How time flies: Another month, another new quilt pattern is here! Windsor Garden is for those who have seen all the talk lately about curved piecing and wondered if you should give it a go. The quilts are so pretty – curves create patterns you just can’t accomplish with straight shapes. So many gorgeous traditional quilt designs feature curves…can you do it? Yes, you CAN sew curves!
Or, you’ve fallen hard for curves and mastered the basics, you’re ready for the next step, then you are in the right place, too. Orange peels are the next step in all things curved piecing. My personal favorite, these classic little melon shapes are versatile enough to have fun playing with to make an array of different quilts – you’ll find a lot of patterns utilizing orange peel shapes in my pattern shop because they are my favorite and so fun to sew.
All that is to say: introducing the newest pattern for Colorful Quilters, Windsor Garden. Boom.
I made this cute little quilt to showcase a fabric collection of the same name and I liked it so much, the name stuck with the quilt. Windsor Garden features a basic -easy to sew- orange peel blocks set with sparkly touches of color and a subtle background pattern. You’ll love the large shapes for showing off your favorite large scale prints and play with the color placement to create new and unique secondary patterns.
Windsor Garden can be made with either the Classic Curves Ruler or Classic Curves Plus ruler. You have to love an opportunity to use your ruler or a good excuse to add one to your quilting ruler collection (-:
The pattern includes three size options, but is easy to adapt to your preference by making more or fewer blocks, arranging them in a runner or making just one for a pillow cover.
