Quilting Interest

Bloom, Pisces, and Birds, Oh My!

July has been all about curves as we celebrate the arrival of the new Classic Curves Ruler and Classic Curves Plus. Of course, I always enjoy talking about quilts with those who “get it”, so it’s been really fun to be in this space as well as all the socials an extra amount lately.

My absolute favorite thing, though, is getting to see what YOU all make with the patterns and rulers I’ve sent out into the world. I get so excited about a quilt design from choosing the colors and fabrics, to sewing and finishing, and writing up a pattern to share. I’ve made it a goal for the future of Color Girl Quilts to spend more time focusing the creativity: designing and making new quilts, filming video for YouTube and virtual classes, and writing patterns.

DON’T FORGET -ends soon- : you can get any CCRuler pattern 50% off with purchase of ruler (up to two patterns when you purchase both Rulers). <<click here>> to apply coupon automatically when you check out.

Let’s round out the month with a few last shares of quilts made by all of you and look forward to August with renewed inspiration!

Bloom quilt pattern by Color girl Quilts

Cyndi sent in this photo of her version of the Bloom quilt pattern. Don’t you just love the cheerful fabrics and colors?! Bloom is pattern made with the Classic Curves Ruler or Classic Curves Plus. Check out This Post about a Bloom class I did for a guild recently and all their pretty quilts.

hula girl quilt pattern by Color Girl

Not curves, but fab nonetheless: another talented Cindy made a Hula Girl quilt pattern! This Cindy participated in a paper foundation piecing workshop I did with a guild in Michigan last year. SO REWARDING to see a finish come from a workshop. If I recall correctly, this was Cindy’s first time trying PFP. Nice, right?

curved piecing with classic curves ruler

Re-sharing this one by Anne – it’s not from one of my patterns, she created it herself – made with the Classic Curves Ruler. I get all warm fuzzy when someone used their CCRuler to bring their ideas to life. The ruler is so versatile, I think you’ll find it useful for any of your curved piecing patterns to avoid having to copy and cut out templates or buy multiple template sets for different size blocks.

Untamed quilt pattern by color girl quilts

Not sure why, but the Untamed quilt pattern has a special place in my heart. I love how Mitzi made hers with kid theme fabric, like an I-Spy! Those curves are looking mighty impressive, some little someone is lucky to get a snuggle from this quilt. Great work, Mitzi!

And of course, the photo you see at the top of this post, an all time favorite: the Pisces quilt pattern. This one made by Marian. LOVE her fearless use of prints and colors! (she’s also my mom and my biggest fan and quilt making helper, so I’m biased 😊)

Huge thanks to all for sewing along with me all these years and cheers to many more to come! If you’ve created a quilt using one of the Color Girl Quilts patterns or rulers, I’d love to see it. Please email me photos or tag me on social. It would be really fun to make posts like this a regular thing.

Happy Sewing!
