Quilt in Progress: A Joy Ride

Spring has sprung, my friends!

While I know some of you might still be slightly buried in snow (I’m looking at you, Utah and California –yea for water!), I’m celebrating the arrival of spring and soaking up some sunshine (-:

What I really came to talk about today is a new Quilt in Progress! If you’ve been following along on IG or FB, you’ve seen some peeks at this cutie and I hope you’ll be as excited as I am for this to come together.

This spring I’m working on some brand new patterns for you all to make with your Classic Curves Ruler. This one is going to be called Joy Ride…so be on the lookout for the pattern to come available in the shop (-:

For this quilt, we are keeping it super simple with fresh, cheerful prints from the second Uppercase fabric collection. This is a set I’ve had in my stash since it was released a couple years ago and I think it’s perfect for this whimsical design. I love how the colors look with the white background, too.
–but I do hope someone makes a dramatic version, maybe dark background or jewel tone solids? —

Seriously, aren’t these fabrics the cutest? I am going to keep the final layout and design secret for the moment as I want you all to get excited for the pattern and have an exciting reveal. Meantime, imagine all the fun ways you can arrange these simple blocks? Obviously you can sew four together and make circles and they would be adorable. Or make pairs into half circles and arrange them facing different directions all over a quilt. The quarter circle blocks by themselves can be arranged to make a zillion different patterns, just like a traditional drunkards path block.

So, start thinking…I’ll show you the layout I finally landed on soon (-:

If curved piecing has been on your bucket list to try or you already love it, you simply must try the Classic Curves Ruler. Be sure and watch the demonstration videos at Color Girl YouTube, and find the ruler and fabulous patterns to get your creativity flowing  <<here>>

Happy (spring) Sewing!
