I’d be willing to bet you’ve had this conversation with yourself: “I really want to start making this new pattern/try an idea/utilize my new tool, BUT I already have have SO MANY other projects unfinished.” The struggle is real (-:
Clutter kills creativity, at least in my brain it does. I’m not just talking about physical clutter: too much stuff, messy work space, or all those projects I haven’t finished yet, but mental and emotional clutter, too. It’s been a busy few months around here and it’s time to get back to making pretty things! While it’s tempting to jump into new ideas, the time comes when you must clear some of the physical clutter to make way for new creativity.
And so, every once in a while I hit ‘pause’ on all the ideas swirling in my brain and spend time finishing projects – decluttering both my mind and my space.
And so, June is for finishing.

So far, I’ve put binding on two quilts that have been languishing, and basted, quilted, and bound my little Blessed Heart quilt. That feels so good! The fun part about sharing my June finishes is that you’re also getting glimpses of some new patterns that are coming soon to the shop. One of them is part of my Stash, Scraps, & Pre-Cut pattern collection – this one for charm squares and scraps. It’ll be a beginner pattern or easy make for more experienced quilters – and those with an impressive stash to sew up!
Speaking of un-cluttering our lives, what better way than to finish quilts AND use up some stash and scrap fabric?

One of the new fabric collections that arrived in the shop this spring is called Vintage by Sweetwater (Moda Fabrics). I couldn’t resist the cute basic prints and primary colors. I don’t often use red in my quilts, but I love it with the navy and gold in the Vintage prints. Look for this pattern for the Classic Curves Ruler to land next month. So excited! See work in progress and more of the fabrics, Here.
My little Blessed Heart quilt. This year, I’ve been all about using my scraps and stash and producing patterns to help you do the same! Scrappy quilts never fail to bring a smile and it feels SO GOOD to pull out favorites from the stash and give them new life. You can make your own Blessed Heart quilt – click here and enter your email to receive the Color Girl Newsletters and you’ll receive the steps of the Blessed Heart quilt pattern every Monday for four weeks -it’s free!

I admit I’m pretty tickled with this little cutie. It’s been a lot of fun seeing all of your versions too, so keep sharing them as you complete the sew-along! I mentioned I don’t use red very often? I had to scrounge a lot to gather this many red prints from my stash (-:
Next up for June finishes? another cute scrappy baby quilt I’ve had basted for ages. I’m going to quilt and bind it. June is not over yet.
If you ever feel like gathering up all those quilts in progress and moving some to the ‘finished’ column, I’ll be over here cheering you on!
Happy Sewing (and finishing),
