Hello, It’s Me. Popping in with News, Plans, Plea

Hello, my colorful friends! when I started 2024, I had SO MUCH planned for Color Girl Quilts. Big plans and several patterns in queue to release throughout the year. Had a great start, too – introducing the new Flora and Essence patterns for the Classic Curves Ruler and unveiling the first in my collection of Stash, Scrap, & Precut patterns, Square Off.

But I disappeared from this space after June.

Last summer, I took action to separate from my husband and way underestimated the bandwidth that that transition would take. When I discovered that if I wanted to move into my own place, I needed significant personal income (I wish CGQ was more than hobby income, but that’s that), I got busy finding a job (more on that later, it’s the best possible scenario for me!)

So, in July I started working full time outside the home for the first time in 10 years. Yes, it’s scary to face looking for, qualifying, starting a new job in that situation, but I was really blessed. I also obtained a lease on a home and moved myself there. I am at peace and know that this was the right decision, so don’t express condolences. Instead, say, “I’m proud of you for doing it!” because I am proud of myself. It was a very long time and not a decision made lightly. We still share a teen boy and one just starting college. There are hard days, but I’m good.

I don’t usually share personal stuff here, but in this case, I really feel like it’s important. We so often don’t let on when we are struggling – I know I was good at that – and don’t ask for the support we need for mental and emotional health. This experience has helped me to recognize my feelings as real and valid, let them come, and bring others close to be there for me. I hope that if someone I love is struggling in any way, they would feel like I would be a shoulder to cry on or ear to vent to, or just keep company. I am incredibly grateful to the friends and family who have stepped up for me this year. I couldn’t have gotten through this (so far) without them.

So that’s where I’ve been. I have really wanted to dip my toes in here from time to time, but by the end of the work day, I’m pretty spent and most spare time has been spent settling into my home. BUT, I’m feeling mostly settled. I am hoping to have more free time to share what I made before this giant speed bump, and get the final touches on that lineup of patterns I had planned for this year!

Here’s the thing. If you’ve stayed with me this long – thank you ❤️

When I moved in August, most of what I moved was…..fabric. Big surprise (not). I have a one year lease on my house and if – IF – I have to move again, I am NOT taking all this with me again. I am extremely motivated to clear out fabric inventory I still have in the shop and even lots of stash but I’ll figure that out later.

So please help me by taking fabric off my hands! (-:

I’ve just marked layer cakes $34.99 – regular store price is $48. I have three beautiful collections: Vintage by Sweetwater, Flirtation by Zen Chic, and Imaginary Flowers by Gingiber. There aren’t very many so you’ll get lucky at this price if you grab one.

Fabric on the bolt is $7/yard – order in 1/2 yard increments ($3.50)

There is also a good selection of bundles, many of them are also on sale. Watch this space for more. <<click here to snap up some great deals>>

Thank you for being great supporters! This isn’t good-bye, my Classic Curves Rulers and pdf patterns will continue to be available. I’d love it if you ask your favorite local shop to stock them, too!

More later.

Happy Sewing!
