It’s new pattern day! Yes, I know we are just recovering (or not!) from the excitement of getting the new Classic Curves and Classic Curves Plus rulers in and shipping out the first orders. I bet some of you are starting to get your new rulers…. (-:
All of the currently available patterns for the Classic Curves Ruler can be made with either size ruler, but it’s always nice to have a fresh project to make, especially with a brand new toy (I mean, ruler).
The first new patterns I have ready to release over the coming months are pure Joy. I don’t mean that entirely as a pun on this pattern title, but that the new patterns feature big, basic shapes in fun designs that will be achievable for even beginners to curved piecing.
I’ve been in the mood for quick, happy sewing, especially quilts to make with stash and scrap fabrics, so that’s what I’m sharing with all of you too. I hope you enjoy making them as much as I have!
About Joy Ride… this cute design features basic curved piecing with shapes you can cut with either the Classic Curves Ruler or the Classic Curves Plus. For my sample, I used a FQ bundle of Uppercase collection prints (Windham Fabrics designed by Janine Vangool) that I had in my stash. It feels amazing to use fabric from my stash, and turn favorite prints into a finished quilt! Primary colors like this are outside my usual preferred color palette, but this quilt feels a bit child-like and whimsical and the colors and fabrics contribute to that cheerfulness.
The pattern includes three size options and would be easy to adjust to your preferred size by making more or fewer blocks. The sample quilt shown is made with the lap size of the pattern and measures 38″ x 51″.
