Have you ever just fallen in love with a quilt pattern? I’ve noticed that the simplest quilts are often my favorites. Other things about a quilt that make your heart happy? Fabrics are a major part, plus: how fun it is to sew and if it’s an interesting and engaging design when finished. Well, I think Bloom just might be the quilt that checks all the boxes. You see, I recently finished my second quilt with the Bloom pattern and I’m still in love.
The original Bloom quilt was sewn with fabrics designed by Mr. Domestic (Mathew) for Art Gallery Fabrics. I wanted to make second quilt with a really different look to show the versatility of the design.
There has been a bundle of super cute Uppercase prints sitting in my sewing room for something like two years begging to be made into a quilt. I love that these prints are a bit vintage feed sack looking, but also modern with the cheerful primary colors.
This one has Hobbs silk batting inside, which I haven’t tried before and I really like it. It is very light and thin, but still has a great texture for quilting. Darby Myers of Quilted Squid did the beautiful all-over geo quilting design (-:
The Uppercase fabrics have little bits of black in the prints, so I thought it would be dramatic and slightly unexpected to make black a focal point in the quilt by using it for the orange peel shapes.

One my favorite things about quilt making is imagining new and different color and fabric combinations to make patterns interesting. I would love to see how you put your personal touch on Bloom!
