It’s finally here! Pattern number three to accompany the Classic Curves Ruler is Mermaid. I am really excited about this design…so graphic and colorful, and so much potential.
I made the sample on the pattern cover with solids from RJR fabrics Cotton Supreme Solids collection. It is my first ever quilt made only with solids! Hard to believe, but I really enjoyed it. I would love to see it in prints and I think it would be really fun with light scraps in place of the navy blue and white “background”.
I used Hobbs heirloom blend batting and quilted it with invisible thread. I really like using invisible thread on quilts with a lot of colors so that the thread doesn’t stand out. I think it would be fun to experiment with some unique quilting on this. Those pieces are big and would really show off the texture of the quilting. Time to practice your free motion quilting!
I’d love to see how Mermaid inspires your creativity. The blocks can be rearranged for a variety of different designs and shapes and would look great in all types fabrics. This pattern is ideal if you are new to curves or thinking about trying curved piecing…the pieces are nice and big with an easy curve and cutting is super quick with the Classic Curves Ruler.
Pattern includes three size options: baby, throw and queen. Get your pattern here and if you don’t have one already, you’ll want a Classic Curves Ruler, too.
Have a great weekend!

It’s difficult for me to leave all my wonderful prints to do solids. You have convinced me to give it a try. Thanks again.
Really looking forward to read more. Awesome.
