New! Square Off Quilt is *not* Square

Happy March! Here’s a new quilt coming your way…I have been soooo excited to show you this one. I hope you love it as much as I do!

So far, 2024 has been all about scraps around here: giving our scraps new life and turning stash fabric into beautiful finishes. I’ve loved seeing all of you making the Blessed Heart pattern – the first in my new collection of patterns for scraps and stash.

Today, I have a new pattern for all of you scrappy, stashy quilters. Bonus: this one is REALLY good for pre-cut 10″ square packs, too.

Introducing: Square Off.

Isn’t this SO FUN?

As I’ve told you before, the Stash, Scrap, & Pre-Cut pattern series is all about simplicity – making scrappy quilts that look fresh and modern – and ease of making. These patterns are for beginners and veteran quilters alike.

Square Off pattern includes fabric requirements for using pre-cut 10″ squares as well as scraps and yardage – you don’t have to use scraps or pre-cuts – so it’s easy to make this quilt in your own taste. For my sample, I used fabrics by Zen Chic for Moda, a 10″ square pack of her latest collection ‘Bluish’. I LOVE this collection! I did replace some of the squares with some pieces from another Zen Chic collection, Celestial, that I had in my stash. These two collections play really well together and I love how the little bit of pink from Celestrial adds something extra to the Bluish prints.

The Square Off, and all the Stash, Scrap, & Pre-cut patterns are also written in a unique way – these aren’t just regular patterns made with scraps. You’ll find specific instructions for the fabrics you are using – no need to calculate or make substitutions, you follow the set of instructions for the fabric you’re using. Easy-peasy! I hope these little extras make the pattern super easy and give you motivation to sew up your favorite prints into something you can enjoy every day.

Pattern includes three size options: baby, throw, and twin, and it’s super easy to adapt to your preferred size by making more blocks or arranging them in the shape/size you want. The throw quilt requires only one 10″ square (Layer Cake) pack and finishes 48″ x 56″. You don’t need any additional fabric except for binding and backing. I think it could be a real go-to for baby/kid/dorm quilts you want to whip up quickly. Just choose a Layer Cake collection of fabrics suited to the person you are making for and you are off the the races.

My sample quilt was quilted by Michelle of Quilts Made with Love. I love the simple wavy line texture and she is super fast and easy to work with!
