So fun to add a new quilting pattern to my shop, right in time for New Year sewing…or Christmas sewing for those extra ambitious folks!
Spin was originally published in Quilts and More magazine last spring and I now have it ready for my readers here as an individual pattern. This pattern includes the fully illustrated cutting and piecing instructions for the quilt in three sizes: baby (or wall hanging), throw, and queen quilts. Buy the pattern, Here .
As always, I do all of my piecing with 50 wt. Aurifil thread and also recommend Hobbs batting. These wonderful companies provide me supplies, and I am so grateful! The fabrics used in my sample for the pattern are from Moda Fabrics, and the collection is called “Flow” designed by Zen Chic (2016). My quilt was quilted by Teresa Silva (quiltingismybliss.blogspot.com). She is so talented, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
I am teaching Spin at my local quilt shop this weekend, so I will be making another one. This time I plan to do the baby size in fabrics by Bonnie and Camille (also Moda). This one will have a different color scheme, and also a more scrappy look.
One of the variations I would like to try for this pattern is making the pieces that are gray in my sample with two different striped fabrics. If you plan it right, I think the stripes would make a neat pattern behind the stars. Of course, there are so many ways you can make this quilt unique! I hope you will give Spin a try, and share your version with me.

such a pretty and fun quilt! I have the magazine with it (which I went out and found after you shared it!) 🙂 Good luck with your class: I’m sure you’ll do a great job teaching. Hugs, H
I love the colors chosen and the layer created by the gray fabrics! Does the pattern require any special tools or templates to get the sharp points and angles?
