Let’s Sew LIVE! New Virtual Class

Hello, friends! Today is a special day because I am inviting you to be the part of a fabulous virtual quilting class with me.

This instructional workshop is an opportunity to make a beautiful modern quilt with fellow curvy color lovers AND get live instruction as you make a completely unique quilt. This class is called “Precision Piecing; Improv Design (Curves Edition)”.

The Precision; Improv concept came to me as I was sewing my big curvy Pink Quilt. While I love the look of modern, improv quilts that others make, I’ve never felt like I could achieve the look effectively. I’m way too attached to the quilting tradition that favors precise piecing and craftsmanship. Improv felt too disorganized and while I know others can do it really well…I didn’t see it for myself.

THEN, I absolutely fell in love with the process of making the Pink Quilt. The piecing is precise and clean, but the design was a ‘choose your own adventure’ style. I simply cut and sewed, rearranged and sewed some more, and kept going until I felt the design was finished. It was super fun to play and experiment this way, and the finished quilt is a new favorite.

Now, I’ll teach you how to make your own Improv Design while mastering curved piecing and learning all about using your Classic Curves Rulers. We will talk about how to size your blocks up and down so you can take full advantage of all that the ruler has to offer in convenience and versatility. The best part: you only need the ONE ruler to make all the curves.

That’s right – no need to purchase a bunch of template sets or individual rulers. The Classic Curves Plus ruler features 19 cutting grooves – each one for making a different block size. The Classic Curves Ruler features 14 sizes, including very small options that aren’t included on the Plus ruler. You might be surprised how easy it is to sew this cool quilt!

Class details:

Class Registration includes video content with all the instructions and demonstrations to complete the quilt. You can watch the videos as much as you want to review. Each video session comes with a corresponding pdf download with graphic illustrations and text instructions for that step as well as design suggestions and tips for success.

After registration, you will receive downloadable pdf worksheets with links to watch videos and supplemental instructions/worksheets. You can use the provided worksheet layouts to design and plan your quilt, color, and make notes for yourself. Or you can skip the worksheet planning and go full improv as you learn the techniques from me in the videos.

This is a beginner friendly workshop. All are welcome regardless of experience with curved piecing or style. You will need a Classic Curves Plus ruler (recommended) or a Classic Curves Ruler to participate. No templates will be provided.
