New video on Color Girl YouTube! I have to tell you, this quilt is seriously cute and seriously easy to sew. I can’t wait to see what you make!
Last month, I hosted the first ever live (Zoom) quilting workshop featuring curved piecing and how to use the Classic Curves Rulers. It was a huge success according to those who attended and nearly everyone (maybe everyone?) was able to make at least one block and some made an entire quilt in just a few days. I think there was a lot of pleasant surprise at how easy curved piecing actually is!
Now, I’m sharing this fun project with everyone who wants to learn to use their Classic Curves Ruler and master the basics of curved piecing while making a cute modern quilt.

Video includes an introduction to the Rulers – I’m using the Classic Curves Plus in the video – that includes an explanation of the markings and how to use it to cut both the convex and concave shapes for your piecing. You’ll see how easy it is to sew curves when the pieces are cut with accuracy and include seam allowance. No need to make big and trim a lot!
Next, you’ll learn how to square up the blocks. This is one of the things I get asked the most – how to get blocks perfectly uniform so seams match when we sew them all together in a finished quilt top.

Finally, as always with my videos, we will talk about multiple options for setting the blocks together to get different designs. You can choose to follow along and make yours like mine in the photos, or find your own favorite layout. In the live class, we had some really creative quilts come to life! It’s always inspiring to play and try different designs.

This quilt surely proves that you don’t need a complicated design to make a fabulously fun quilt.
