Happy Weekend! A while back I posted about the new fabric collection, Garden Dreamer, from Art Gallery Fabrics. I was really excited to make something with these pretty prints, and the perfect opportunity came up!
Last weekend I taught my Whimsy Garden quilt pattern to a class at my local quilt shop. I decided to make my sample for the class with my Garden Dreamer fabrics. I also added some prints from another new Art Gallery collection, Sage. The colors and prints from these collections look beautiful together!
So, I am making the smallest size from the pattern, which will be nine blocks. Before my class, I made one block and cut the rest so I could demonstrate the curved piecing process. I was super impressed with all the ladies in the class…none had done curved piecing before and they all took right to it! I always enjoy teaching, the visiting, and meeting new quilters.
Part of the class was to show how to appliqué those cute little circles, too. I did this yellow one in the class and I love how this little four block piece looks!
I have the nine blocks sewn up now and will be working on getting the sashing sewn on and putting them all together. The circle appliqués will be a good soccer practice hand sewing project (-:
I have a tutorial up on how I do those circle appliqués, even for someone who doesn’t much like appliqué, these are pretty fun and look really cute! Tutorial, click here.
Have a great weekend!

In your last photo of the sashed 4 blocks with the applique’ center circle: what is the multi-color fabric in the lower right block? It’s a must have for me. ????
