Last week I showed you the blocks I am working on for my little Whimsy Garden quilt. This week I got the sashing all sewn and put the blocks together…I just need to add the borders to finish the machine sewing part on the top!
This morning I spent some time choosing fabrics for the circle appliqués and basted a few to get ready for hand stitching. **See my simple method to appliqué perfect circles, Here**
I have nine blocks (this is the small size on the pattern) and the circles will go at the crossroads of the sashing strips. I have one yellow one sewn on already, and lots more to go (-:
For the layout of the blocks, I decided to place them roughly alternating pink blocks with blue and green blocks. I hope that this gives a balanced look to the color layout. I will try to use the appliqué circles to continue to evenly distribute the colors.
I am loving these pretty fabrics! The prints are a mix of the Garden Dreamer and Sage collections. Both are recent releases from Art Gallery Fabrics. I am also looking forward to doing the appliqué circles so I can dabble in my little stash of pretty Aurifil thread colors (-: The hand stitching is a nice relaxing activity for evenings or portable project at kids’ activities.
Have a great weekend,
Sharon

Noice!
Lovely project! The bee from Sage is perfect.
Saw your Greek cross quilt yesterday while brousing that you made a while back using Skopelos.
It is a favorite of mine.
