…and today’s project: Utopia Quilt! for me, this has been a pretty fast (almost) finish! I started this quilt when I returned from Sewtopia earlier this month, and I already have the top finished and basted. I told you a bit about this as a Quilt In Progress last week, but I am really thrilled with how the top turned out. It is made with prints from the new Utopia fabric collection by Frances Newcombe for Art Gallery Fabrics. These prints are so fun, with unique geometrics and really bright, cheery fabrics.
I am quilting this one myself because I want to finish it right away. No languishing as an Unfinished Object for this quilt! I started by quilting along the gray stripes and then filled in between with wavy line stitching. I love the texture it gives the fabric, and it is really easy because it’s basically just straight quilting because it uses a pre-set stitch on my machine. This is about as ambitious as I get with quilting, as I am not at all confident with free-motion quilting.
A closer look at the wavy line quilting. Kind of fun! and it feels really good. I think it will be great to wash and get it all crinkly! Hoping for time this holiday weekend to finish this one. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!
