A couple of weeks ago Pat Bravo posted on Instagram that she was looking for sewers to create with her new fabric collection, Etno (for Art Gallery Fabrics), and be part of a blog tour to show off the possibilities for the prints.
Of course, there were a ton of responses, I didn’t think I had a chance…but I was thrilled when I got an email from Pat that I was selected! Hooray for new fabric, right?!
So, I wanted to write a quick “W.i.P” Wednesday post today and share a bit about what I have planned for these. But first…the fabrics: on the Art Gallery Website Pat wrote that she was inspired by the look of ethnic patterns and prints when she designed these prints. I love that aspect of them, so right on trend…but they are different from other geometrics and native-style designs in that the colors are so vibrant.
Nothing bland here, we have rosy pink, black and white, bright gold tones, and my favorite: many shades of blue. It is a fun assortment and the black will be something new for me since I don’t often use black, but do love the high contrast it gives a quilt.
So, I drew upon the design of the fabrics and my desire to try a new-to-me shape, and created a plan for a small quilt with the Etno fabrics. It all starts with the strips like you see above, and in my typical fashion, they got all cut up into triangles…
Follow along on Instagram and Facebook as I sew this one up. I’ll have it back on this space all finished up in a couple of weeks.

Oh how fun. Congratulations on the selection; it looks like you are having some fun!
Sweet! (How great are those prints? I definitely have my eye on that black and white one.)
I just love those prisma elements!
This looks fabulous – can’t wait to see it all! I am so excited too, to be in the blog tour – I am right after you! This will be so much fun!
