I mentioned before that I think the best thing I did in 2023 was screw up the courage and figure out the logistics of teaching via Zoom. I LOVE meeting you all in person (even if it’s technically virtual) and sharing our excitement for quilting.

In related news: you can now get two of my classes as bundle all-at-once option. This means you don’t have to wait until a live class is on the calendar to benefit from real life demonstrations and inside tricks for making these quilts. When you purchase the virtual only classes, you get all the class materials – pdf files, video links – right away to work at your own pace and watch anytime you want. The first two classes that you can get as a virtual bundle are Sunbeam and Precision Piecing/Improv Design.

<<click here>> to get the Sunbeam Quilt Class bundle. This includes the full original Sunbeam pattern and three videos taking you through making the quilt top, including cutting fabrics, paper foundation piecing techniques, using the Classic Curves Ruler and hand applique for perfect circles. So much from one class and a cute quilt, too!
The most popular class so far has been the Precision Piecing/Improv Design class. When I made this quilt, it felt like a stretch of my creative muscles because I’ve never felt like I could ‘do’ improv quilts. My brain definitely prefers precise piecing and geometric patterns – it’s hard for me to do the freeform, kind of messy work of improv. BUT, I found that you can combine precision piecing (and the craftsmanship I prefer) with the playful, modern-art looks of improv design.

In this class, we get tons of practice using our Classic Curves Plus Rulers and really master curved piecing. Even if you are brand new to curves, this is a great place to start because the technique is easy and beginner friendly and the repetition means you get all the practice you need. I also like this class for learning how to use your ruler to max effect: sizing blocks up and down so you can adapt other patterns for ease of use the ruler provides over templates.

I’m making plans and working on samples now for the next installment of PP/ID featuring full circles, so make sure you are signed up to get email from me so you can join!
Okay, let’s talk LIVE classes! what do we have coming up?

Metro is on the calendar for February 15-16. I am SO excited to make this pattern with you all. The videos and samples are all done – I’ll finish editing video this week! The sample I am making for the class is OOTW -if I do say so myself- and looks really different from the original, color and style-wise. I cannot wait to show you.

If you join the class, will you do one like the original with interlocking rings of color, or go scrappy like the one above?
<<click here>> to register for Metro.
If you can’t make it to the live class, Metro will be available as an instant bundle class to buy and work on your own after the live sessions.
Now I’m thinking about what to do next. Do you have a favorite quilt (curvy or otherwise) or technique you’d like to do? tell me in the comments below! I was thinking about Eclipse or Bloom as our next curves pattern…might be fun to do True Colors, tho, and work on our paper foundation piecing. I love that quilt (-:
Okay, I hope I ‘see’ you soon! It’s way more fun to sew along together whether it’s through video instruction, live on Zoom, or in person.
happy sewing,
