Q.I.P. Summer Curves Edition

As you can imagine, the past several months have been spent totally focused on dreaming up and making quilts to make with the Classic Curves Ruler as I prepare to release the new, larger Classic Curves Plus. Having this new project has really injected some much needed enthusiasm into my creative veins. I am so excited that the new Rulers are expected to arrive next week. It has been a long process with many delays and lots of waiting…but my plan is to have them available to you starting Friday, July 14. Fingers crossed!

Back to our topic today: Quilts in Progress and getting them finished. Sometimes you have to hit the pause button and get some things finished or you start to feel super disorganized. Maybe that’s just me (-:

So, June was the month to FINISH. Not only because we need some finished quilts for new patterns, but tying up loose ends helps to calm a busy mind and takes away the mental clutter. This always makes me feel so free to start new and fresh ideas. Here’s a couple of the Q.I.P.’s I’ve been working on and finishing!

small orange peel blocks with Classic curves Ruler

I made these cheery blocks quite a while back when I created the orange peel How-to video for Color Girl YouTube. I love how the bright colors pop with the white! To get this one into the finished column, I basted and quilted the top myself (gold star!). It might not seem like much, but I’m really happy with how it turned out and, best of all, it’s FINISHED!

If you’d like to make one like this, it’s actually super simple! Watch and follow along with me on the video <<here>>.

Next up, a peek at another June finish and the next new pattern to make with the Classic Curves Ruler: Joy Ride.

Remember these cute blocks? they became a quilt!

I cannot get enough of these simple vintage-y cute fabrics. They were a bundle I’ve had in my stash for quite awhile and turned out to be perfect for this project! Watch for the Joy Ride quilt pattern to become available in concert with the new Rulers this month. Of course, I have lots more photos to show you, too.

Are you in the mood to finish some of your Q.I.P.’s, too?

If you feel daunted by any of the steps to actually finishing, watch the videos below…I’ll show you all the tricks to basting and binding your quilts. Let’s get some finished together:
