This week I am hosting a little tour of makers to showcase some of the quilt blocks featured in Art Gallery Fabrics’ tutorial series on YouTube. I asked some of my favorite makers to choose one of the traditional quilt blocks available on the AGF YouTube channel and make a small project and tell us about the video.
AGF has a beautiful channel on YouTube featuring a variety of projects using their fabric collections. All of the tutorials and patterns featured are free of charge, so be sure and check them out next time you need some inspiration for a quick project. They also have a monthly contest you can enter for a chance to win AGF fabric, click here for details.
I made a mini quilt with the tutorial for the “jack in the box” block. You can find it here. You pretty much can’t go wrong on a traditional style quilt with stars and/or pinwheels. This block has both and lots of possibilities for mixing up fabric placement for unique looks.
The video tutorial is short and moves pretty quickly, so I recommend watching it through once to see how the pieces are sewn and then decide which fabrics you want to use. Watch it a second time and pause it on each screen of the cutting instructions. Then watch the rest and sew up your blocks.
For fabrics, I used prints from the Charleston collection by Amy Sinibaldi for Art Gallery Fabrics. For quilting, the thread is Aurifil 50 weight in pink. I debated about using the pink since it would show up on the white solid (those lines would have to be really straight…), but I love how it turned out and will definitely do this again.
Be sure and check out the Art Gallery Fabrics YouTube page for this and lots of other quilt blocks. Each look great on their own, or would be perfect for a sampler quilt. Be sure and follow all week as we see what these talented sewing friends make!

How disappointing that some of these girls who are part of the blog hop don’t have active blogs (surely a pre-requisite of a blog hop) and you have to search their IG to find a reference to AGF! Choose people who have active blogs and dedicated followers!
