Last month I had the opportunity to sew with this beautiful new fabric collection by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics, Skopelos. For the blog tour to roll out the collection and give some inspiration for using the fabrics, I made a variation on my Jumping Jacks pattern. Read full post, Here.
In the original pattern, I used lots of scraps in bright primary colors with black and white as the secondary design.
For my quilt with the Skopelos fabric, you can see it looks completely different just by turning the blocks in a different orientation. This is a versatile pattern, offering a variety of design variations by rearranging the orientation of the blocks.
I added to the effect by setting the blocks on a diagonal across the quilt with negative space on either side. The blue took the place of the black in the original.
This week, I am sharing some of this beautiful fabric as well as the Jumping Jacks quilt pattern with one of you readers. If you would like to add this pattern and beautiful fabrics (four fat quarters, 18″ x 22″) to your collection and maybe make your own Jumping Jacks quilt, leave a comment on this post. I will choose a winner next Sunday, June 14.
If you like, tell me your favorite quilt shop and where it is located (a physical shop, not a website).
Edit: the giveaway is now closed, the winner is Pam S. Thank you all for your comments and for following along with me.

I would love to get my hands on a little Skopelos! I’ve seen it online but not in person. Just lovely! My favorite LQS is Ladybug Quilt Shop in Jacksonville, Florida. I’ve learned so much from the owner and love getting my creative juices flowing there!
I’ve been eyeing this fabric since it came out!!! My favourite quilt shop is an hour drive away and it is called “I Sew Studio” in Marathon, Ontario. Their shop is unbelievable and fabric selection top notch!!
That’s a beautiful harmony of pattern and fabric! I find Las Colchas in San Antonio a charming shop!
I am lucky to have some wonderful LQS in my area, St. Louis Missouri. Two of my most favorite to visit is Jackman’s Fabrics and Janie Lou. I love the ladies at both shops as they are wonderful, friendly, helpful and have great fabrics to purchase along with sewing workshops and classes.
My favorite is Stitch Your Art Out, which is a few miles from my house in Central PA.
My favorite shop is Colorz for Quilts. It is in Baxter, Minnesota, less than 1 1/2 miles from me.
My favourite LQS is Quiltstudion, the only one(?) in Gothenburg, Sweden. She has a lot of notions and o good selection of fabric. But my dream is to visit quilt shops in the States, oh, that would be lovely!!!
We have so many good quilting shops in Montana. Guess it’s the long winters! But my go-to shop is The Sewing Palace in Helena.
My favorite quilt shop is High Prairie Quilts in Parker, CO. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love your diagonal use of this design. I love Burkholder’s Fabric in Denver, PA. Great Mennonite store.
Another great quilt to showcase beautiful fabric!
Love your pattern! My favorite quilt shop is Material Girl in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Bright colorful fabric and a versatile pattern, yummy!! Would love to play with both! My favorite lqs is Rosies Calico Cupboard in San Diego CA. It has a great selection of fabric and helpful staff!
our closest is in Rome Ga. called the stitchery
We don’t have many quilt shops around here. LOL. We have a Joannes about an hour away and an All Brands that has some good quality designer fabrics. I just discovered the All Brands though so I’m waiting for my “quilt money” to grow a little before I go back. LOL. They carry some of the Art Gallery fabrics which are my VERY FAVORITES….I’ll need a good size chunk of moohlah before I go. HA! Thanks for the chance to win this prize. I would love love the book. I’m still newbie so I’d love to try that pattern out. It makes a very beautiful quilt!
Fabulous!
I like Abigail’s Crafts in Gloucestershire but I often shop online!
What a beautiful quilt! My favorite quilt shop is the Quilt Asylum in McKinney, TX. They have a wonderful selection of fabrics and the best part of shopping there – my sister works there! I love to have her help me find fabrics for my projects!
I live in a town WITH NO QUILT SHOP! And it’s awful. We do have a new JoAnn’s though, and that’s pretty good. And there is a great shop with a decent selection about 25 miles from me called Whittles Fabrics. Other than that, online is my only choice!
I don’t have a favourite LQS. The shops here are too expensive, so I do all my shopping online. Great giveaway!
HELLO,no local shop near my home. Thanks for sharing a neat giveaway!
GORGEOUS fabrics!!!! I love that pattern!!!! I totally need a Jumping Jacks quilt now! I love The Little Red Hen fabric shop in Muscatine, IA.
Wonderful, colorful fabric. Your patterns are gorgeous! My LQS is Webfabrics in Purcellville, VA. Customer friendly and gobs of fabrics.
Love those big poppies – have tried growing them, not had any luck….SEW maybe I can make something with them instead. Favorite quilt shop – Rossville Quilts, Rossville, Indiana – Beautiful Shop indeed!
My favorite is my lqs “Lib’s Place” in Rice Virginia
I really like that pattern. I can imagine several quilts in a variety of colors
I go to and rent long arm time at The Quilt Company in Alison Park, PA (outside of Pittsburgh)
I am a big fan of your designs and this fabric is beautiful! Thanks for the giveaway!!
Love the fabric and your quilt pattern! My favorite store is the Bernina store in Lake Mary, Fl.
I would love this. My favorite place to shop is Marshalls in Batesville Arkansas
I like the new layout. I do not have a favorite quilt shop. I shop at Hancock or Joanns . They are close to my house now that we have a new Joanns.
The Quilt Store in Broomfield, Colorado – just about 2 miles down the road from me – is my fav. The staff are so helpful and nice (they helped my teenage son put together a wonderful selection of notions and fabrics for my Christmas present!). Love the new Jumping Jacks arrangement you used with Skopelos. It’s got a great balance between negative space (lovely quilting!) and pattern design and ‘showing off’ the fabrics (prints and solids both). I’d love to win this giveaway so I could play.
My fav quilt shop is in my neighborhood called the Cosmic Cow. That quilt looks lovely and I would love to make it!!!
Queen Bee Quilt Shop in Grand Rapids, MI
My favorite shop isn’t in my city but about a hour and a half away, but worth the trouble to be inspired and welcomed. The Stitchery in Olds, Alberta, Canada.
Spectacular quilt! And the fabric is such eye candy!
Had not seen the fabric. It is beautiful! Bet it’s even prettier in person. My favorite quilt shop is Intown Quilters in Decatur, Georgia.
I love the big poppy flowers. I live within 2 hours of 13 quilt shops so it’s hard to pick a favorite. Usually when a friend and I go quilt shopping we hit 4 or 5 stores. So much fun!!
Three great shops nearby, but I will name my ling-time favorite, The Cotton Patch in Lafayette, CA.
Love the fabrics and the way you adapted your pattern for such a contemporary look.
Those fabrics are lovely and the Jumping Jacks pattern is perfect. I’d definitely like to make a quilt from that pattern.
I love your quilt! Very eye-catching!
My favorite quilt shop is Millhouse Quilts in Waunakee, WI. However, it’s a 2 hour drive from home for me, so I rarely get to go there anymore. (I used to live in Waunakee, but it’s been a few years).
My local quilt shop which I enjoy very much is Piece by Piece in Eugene Oregon
I have four LQS’s within an hours drive all which have their own personality. My favorite isn’t the biggest with thousands of bolts of fabric or the smallest with the amazing owner or the nearest but it’s the Lil Red Hen Quilt Shop in Paola, Kansas. Jenny, the owner is wonderful and her shop has a little of every style of fabric. If she doesn’t have something she will get it. If it’s a new notion or tool she will order three of them. One for your order, one for herself and one for sale. She says that she can’t sell it if she doesn’t have first hand knowledge of the product. It’s always so fun to go just to see what she has in new this week. Thanks for the chance at the amazing fabric and the pattern looks like it’s fun to make.
My favorite quilt shop is Charm Pack in Athens, Greece. Actually it is the first and only quilt shop in the capital of Greece.
I hope to be lucky, I loved so much your version !
The fabric and your pattern are fabulous!!!
I’m in the middle of no where but I go to Carolina Cotton in Kings Mountain or Hobby Lobby in Gastonia. Not a quilt shop but I like the store.
I loved playing Jacks in the summertime when I was in grade school. I really like the pattern.
Your quilt is beautiful & is such a great showcase for these gorgeous fabrics! I live in Sydney Australia & I don’t have a local quilt shop near to me & buy most of my fabrics online – from Australian online shops where I can, I think it’s important to buy from local (or within state or country) retailers. Thanks!
Love all of this, the pattern, the fabrics and the way you changed it up for this quilt.
I love this pattern and this fabric! Thanks!
I love this quilt! Absolutly adorable! You made a great work. Will be fantastic take part of it and make my own quilt 😉 thank you so much for this giveaway
