This is it! the last six inch quilt block for the December set of the Super Simple Sampler. Our theme this month is strips, and I have to tell you, I really like all the strip quilt blocks! They are fun and super quick to make and I have liked having slightly larger pieces of fabric to work with compared to previous months. Here is how to make this block.
Cutting
From each of the pink and the light gray: cut (2) 6 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ strips
from the navy blue: cut (2) 2 1/2″ squares
from the yellow: cut (1) 2 1/2″ square
right sides facing, 1/4″ seam, press after each seam
1. arrange the fabric pieces as shown above. Sew each pink strip to a gray strip on one long edge. Press.
2. sew the navy blue squares to opposite sides of the yellow square. Press toward the blue.
3. Sew the pink/gray units to opposite sides of the blue/yellow unit. Orient the strips as shown above, so that the gray strips finish against the blue/yellow. Press toward the gray.
Once sewn, the block should measure 6 1/2″ square.
Doesn’t get much easier than that! If there is anyone out there making the blocks, and you are on instagram, use #supersimplesampler on Facebook, post on the Color Girl Quilts page.
