A week or so ago I received a very fun package in the mail: a bundle of five “low volume” fabrics for the Michael Miller fabrics challenge at Sewtopia.
I am really excited to have the opportunity to go to the Sewtopia retreat in Salt Lake City in November! It is a weekend retreat filled with shop-hopping and all the sewing we can stand (plus a visit to my mom). The event is partially sponsored by Michael Miller fabrics and they provided the low volume bundles for a challenge project. The only direction was that all fabrics in our chosen project must be from Michaell Miller. Now, I don’t know where all the fabrics in my stash came from, so as I started looking for MM fabrics, I was really happy to find some selvedges still attached!
I was thrilled when I discovered that some of my favorite dots are from Michael Miller and decided to go in that direction. It also just so happens that I am preparing to release my newest pattern, “Hula Girl“, so it seemed a great opportunity to try another version of that design. I started paper piecing the rings using my low volume fabrics (enhanced with some from my stash) and the bright polka dot prints.
I got to thinking: I have lots of fabric waiting to become something beautiful. Since I received such a nice present from the folks at Michael Miller fabrics and Sewtopia, I am going to pay it forward by giving away a fat quarter bundle to one of you readers. You can win the five fabrics shown above, low volume in lovely autumn, earthy shades. Just leave a comment on this post to enter the drawing. I will choose a winner next Sunday when I can hopefully show you how my project is coming along.
I love to know where people are visiting from! In your comment tell me where in the world you are and colors you are in the mood for sewing with.
