Polka Dot Bikini: A New Pattern Now Available

Polka dot bikini quilt pattern by color girl quilts
Readers of this blog have been incredibly enthusiastic and supportive as I have worked on this project, and that has been such a great motivation for me.

I really do love this pattern! Are you wondering why I call it “Polka Dot Bikini”?
When I made the first blocks over a year ago, my sister, Emily
pointed out that they look like the bottoms of a bikini (you know, a brief with leg holes?) and that just stuck. It has been my “bikini” quilt ever since.

The pattern is for the quilt as shown, measuring 63″ square. I plan to use mine as a wall hanging, but it would be a fun baby quilt or throw (how about with low volume prints and colored rings?)
The good news? it is so much easier than it looks (don’t tell!). It looks similar to a classic double wedding ring, but there are no set-in seams, no unruly bias arcs, no foundation (paper) piecing. If you can sew curves, you can make this. Even if you haven’t sewn curves, but want to try, the pattern has full instructions and diagrams.

I shared on my Modern Quilt Guild facebook page (I am the administrator). I did a workshop with my guild on the quick curve ruler, and I showed some Flickr photos of quilts people had made with the ruler (giving credit to the maker of the quilt, of course). I had shown your quilt to everyone (I think it was from Jenny’s blog post about it), and everyone went gah-gah over it. It’s so beautiful! https://www.facebook.com/GreatLakesModernQuiltGuild?ref=hl

Next thing I know, I can’t wait to read more of the ‘new’ blog. I see lots of gorgeous quilts out in blogland but your Bikini quilt is #1. It’s not just the design, not just the colors, not just the quilting…it’s EVERYTHING! I’m so glad you’ve made up the pattern for us; thank you so much.

Once I saw all the eye candy on your blog, I was hooked and quickly signed up to follow by email. I have to say, though, nothing prepared me for your Polka Dot Biniki quilt!!! It is one of the most amazing quilts I’ve ever seen – LOVE IT!!!!! And Jenny did such a gorgeous job quilting it – as she does every quilt she touches :*) I’m really hoping I win a copy of your pattern, because if not I’ll HAVE to buy it LOL!!!
