Progress! This week in the Super Simple Sampler, we have sewn a few more blocks and they are really too cute. So far, we have blocks featuring triangles and flying geese and have quite a collection of 6″ sampler blocks stacking up. We are on our way! This week I am showing you an essential trick for making quick work of piecing the blocks with squares. You’ll love how easy this makes piecing even the smallest patches and will come in handy in future projects and other quilt blocks as well.
This week’s blocks feature squares and rectangles, making them really easy and quick to sew, but these small pieces can be challenging and time consuming if you cut them all individually. That’s why we strip piece them!

In the video I’ll give you start-to-finish instructions to make block #25 and block #12 of the Super Simple Sampler. You’ll use these techniques in several of the other blocks, too.
I admit I am enjoying these little blocks a lot. Sometimes it’s fun to make something really simple and a bit playful. Plus, with each of the 36 blocks being different, it stays interesting: choosing fabric combinations (I love revisiting scraps!), cutting the different shapes, and using different piecing skills. I don’t usually use such a limited palette, but I think these all-pink blocks are going to look really cute in the final quilt.
