I am so happy you are here! If you are reading this, you must have navigated your way from my old blog, Fabrics & Flowers or my first site at Color Girl Quilts on Blogspot. Thank you so much for “following” me here, and I hope you will stick around. The new site is bright and new and I am really excited about it. However, I am still wading through older posts to fix “broken” links, so if you are surfing around and find a link that doesn’t work, please bear with me.
If you have been following my blog, you will notice that Color Girl has a few new features: you can purchase and download my pdf patterns right here on the site as well as visit related links for tutorials or quilt-along inspiration. This site also has some handy menu options that make it really easy to find what interest you. For tutorials, hover over the tab at the top of this page and you will see all of the options. I am also adding “categories” to all my blog posts, so when you click on a category, it will take you to a page that has all the posts in that category. Pretty nifty, yes?
Would you do me a favor? visit some of my posts on projects and tutorials and “Pin” your heart out. If you add pictures from this site to your Pinterest boards, you can help me spread the word about my move from Fabrics & Flowers and more people will come visit.
To celebrate the new website, I have a current copy of the magazine “Modern Patchwork” to give away to one reader.
Besides being a great magazine, this issue is special because it contains a quilt that I designed and made! I am really proud of this, my first published quilt. You can read more about that Here.
Of course, there are lots more neat projects, too. I like this little zipper pouch with the patchwork. I thought it would be fun to make one where the pieced part is a letter, like an initial or monogram, as a gift for someone.
These are my favorite quilts: (seriously, this magazine is so well done and the projects so nice)
If you would like to win a copy of this magazine (chock full of projects besides the ones I showed you). Be among the first to leave me a comment on my new blog! If you live outside the United States, please let me know in your comment. International visitors can win a copy of your choice of any Color Girl quilting pattern. (apologies, shipping cost is just not worth it for a magazine)
If you would like another chance to win, share something (a post, a picture, one of my patterns you are working on, etc) from colorgirlquiltsblog.com on your favorite social network such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. Leave a second comment telling me how you shared. I will choose a winner on Sunday.
I am thrilled to be in my new space! Thanks for all the encouraging words, and for patience as I get it all perfected,
–Sharon

Love your new site. I enjoy following you. Right now I have not been working on too much. I am trying to get myself together. I am having a hard time as my husband of 46years passed away in Dec and I cant seem to get it together. I really want to make that twirling fan quilt. Hope I can get it started and I will post it when I do. Congrats on your new website.

Congrats on your first published quilt in a magazine! I cannot imagine the thrill. I love your Twirled Fan pattern. I have ten (10) quilts planned very soon or I would buy the pattern today and get started. I just visited my daughter in NM. While I was there, my grandson asked me to make him a RED quilt (whatever that means – does it mean totally red, mostly red, a splash of red); he asked me to make a quilt for his 3 year old brother, my daughter wants me to make her a quilt from her sorority t-shirts which she thought were all lost (nope I have two big boxes), and my daughter’s father-in-law died unexpected in his sleep in December, so her mother-in-law would like a quilt for herself. That’s on top of all the others I had planned. I have a retreat in two weeks with Laura Wasilowski. Two weeks later I’m going on a quilt tour to England. So, I’m putting your pattern on my to-do list. I was busy looking at your pattern and almost missed the giveaway. You are very talented and generous. Thank you very much. I am following your new blog, obviously.
